Most OB GYNs feel fairly comfortable with Clomid (ovulation stimulant) up to dosages of 150 mg. Starting dose is 50 mg. The success of Clomid is when there's a documented rise in progesterone above 15 or so on day 21-22 of the cycle. Side effects include cyst formation (from an overly aggressive ovulation response).

Be sure you're being monitored by your doctor while taking it. It can cause hyperovulation, making triplets/quadruplets/etc likely. It can also cause hostile cervical mucus, making it impossible for sperm to get anywhere and for you to conceive. I wasted 6 months on Clomid before a new doctor finally told me I would never get pregnant using it. He said it's an easy pill to take, and most doctors start women out on it as the first fertility treatment option, but it only works for 20% of women.

That being said, I do have friends that have conceived using it, but I wish my first doctor had monitored me so I wouldn't have spent 6 months having useless hot flashes!

Good luck!

Follow your drs insturctions--generally it is taken 1 tablet a day starting on cycle day 3 or 5 and continue for 5 days. Ovulation usually happens 5-14 days after the last tablet. Be aware--it does have some nasty side effects and can cause very serious illness.
