I have a system from Computer Associates, stock symbol CA, well known and respected company. It does not slow my computer down like so many other anti virus software programs have. However, remember to remove those old programs before installing a new one.
I don't know AVG, I would never DL a free security program, they're all garbage and do slow down everything. Some of them are active add-ware programs and evil.

I run:
Zone alarm Firewall.
AVG antivirus
Windows Defender antispyare.
I also run the yahoo tool bar for the popup blocker and its handy antispyware.I am tempted by the AVG antispyware as it looks interesting.
Zone alam has saved my butt a few times.AVG stopped a particularly nasty worm. Both are free. Both are highly reccomended.

Zonealarm prevents access to your computer so is very effective, couple it with AVG antivirus and you will have a very secure set up....The free versions are very good. but the bought versions a that bit better...

AVG has a firewall but only in the paid version. $40 for 2 years. This is what I run and have never had a problem with it.

AVG is good, but I think ZoneAlarm is the best, as well as being free to download and use in its basic version.
