For the most part, I like fiction...and out of that I'm pretty much a mystery girl. Usually, I read series, and there are tiimes that I think it is so unreal for the heroine to continue getting in situations that are "life-threatening"....but I guess that's why I love it....these kind of things do not usually happen to people, especially not 10 times in a couple of years! :)

Now, as I say that I read mainly fiction, I do have to mention, that in my History class we have been having to read many a non-fiction book...we've read 3 thus far, and two were okay, but one I really enjoyed. If you have any family from Ireland, or are simply interested in Irish immigration to America...it is a very good read. The book is called "Remembering Ahanagran", by Richard White, and it talkes of his mother's life in Ireland, and her subsequent immigration to America. Very good...especially for non-fiction.

I would have to say fiction. In my life I have seen way to much nonfiction, things that already prove to me that there are alot of evil people out there in this world and alot of them go unpunished. Fiction allows me to escape to a world that is, generally, good. Even when you have horrible crimes or horrible events, the story normally ends up with the good guys saving the day. I also prefer fiction as I can also just escape from it all. Sci-fi, Fantansy and even horror just allow me to forget about life in general for a little while

I have a friend who says she prefers non-fiction, because she finds it easier to connect to a true story, arguing that "if THIS can happen to someone else ... then it could happen to me." For the same reason, even when reading fiction she prefers non-fantasy to fantasy, claiming she'd rather read a story about something that could actually happen to her.

Personally, I take the oppostie view. I have reality every day of my life; I want my reading to be entertaining escapism. True life stories rarely have that unexpected twist that makes imaginary tales so compelling. Therefore I have to say that I unhesitatingly opt for fiction. I want to read about the impossible, but the impossible written in such a way that, for a brief while at least, I suspend disbelief and totally believe it's possible!
