Most foods, especially meat or fish were eaten immediatly after slaughter due to the lack of refrigeration. Now,some meats could be preserved with salt.
Also, due to wars and conflicts in that time between local lords, most people didn't try or know about foods ,or spices grown outside their region unless they lived near a seaport.
Chicken with fennel
Stuffed sardines
Roasted swan
Haggus (I think that's how you spell it,lol)
Meat or fish pies

the wealthy had really weird stuff done to their food - for example, gild it with gold, or crush pearls onto it and stuff. Sure didnt improve the flavour, but it concealed that much of what they ate was in a semi-rotten state - no refrigeration
