A sample of 14 individuals is slected from one population and 16 from another population. To test for the difference between the two population means, how many degrees of freedom are there?

The answer is 28 but I don't understand how this was figured..

this is like statistic..in one side u have 14 individuals and the other side u have 16 individuals so when you test the difference of 2 population take 14 out of each of population and the sum of that is 28 so,...28 is the answer....lol
