Taking into account the marvellous contribution by these noted scientists, all of them can be formed into a chain like socrates, aristotle and plato but someone has to be the greatest, who was the one who turned the wheel of scientific events completely. And if you think someone else is still better than them who can it possibly be.

Einstein.

Einstein was just a God in human form. The man came up with some of the most influential ideas of the millennia, without being able to test his ideas. He just used the power of his imagination, and was right on almost all accounts.

He could figure out anything. He has his fingerprints in just about every major discovery involving physics during the early 20th century. If it had of been possible back then, he should be have been cloned, because he probably would have finally solved the theory of everything.

Einstein was far beyond Newton in terms of thought. Newton was extremely influential, and spent probably every waking hour of his life on his work, dieing a virgin. However, his creative ideas stand nowhere near Einstein. Atleast in terms of creative physics.

Newton. Today gravity is an obvious concept, but you have to realize that Newton basically pulled this concept out of thin air, nothing like it had been imagined before. It's a major achievement to develope a concept from nothing.

Although Einstein's work is amazing, he at least had Newton's Laws to work with.

Newton was the greatest of his time
Einstein was the greatest of his time
And i dont know about Maxwell

FOR ME, Einstein is the greatest because of his Theory Of Relativity or E=mc2. No one in History has even thinked of this Theory.

Newton. He realized that everything takes the cat and skins it in two or more ways. And don't forget that like every great man, he stood on the shoulder of giants and he saw further. And in turn, Newton grew to be giant on whose shoulders many men have stood and seen into deepest depths.

Einstein. His theories and concepts were so at odds with how we observe and experience the physical world. It's truly mind-blowing that one would even come up with the idea that time functions as we now know it does.

Furthermore, many of his theories were so far beyond the realm of our experiences, that the concepts couldn't even be observed or tested for decades - yet many proved to be true.

Just for the huge and radical leap required to conceive of these things, he's got my vote.

Newton. He had little to work with for the discoveries he had made. Einstein really had to work at it and often took a great many years to make a little headway.
