I wouldn't buy one only because I have the 360. But it is worth the money just on it's Blu Ray capabilities. A Blu Ray DVD player is still going for a minimum of $800 so you would actually be saving a couple hundred bucks buying the PS3.........and you get a video game system.

specific! that's extremely plenty nicely actually worth the $600 (for the console itself, or on your case $800 for a equipment). I actual have a 60GB PS3 and it has by no ability malfunctioned by any ability. maximum those that ***** on the subject of the PS3, purely ***** by way of fee, as quickly as you step returned and seem at all of the constructive properties the PS3 ought to actual fee $1000. A Blu-Ray participant on my own is $999, and the PS3, that may play video games, has on the spot information superhighway get entry to (in the process the 60GB version purely), and so on for below $600! that's via far nicely actually worth the money in each way. In gaming high quality, that's extra up as much as now with extra speedy paced video games (like Resistance: Fall of guy ) that are critically longer than regularly occurring video games for the PS2 by way of Blu-Ray disc. So, you made the splendid selection, the PS3 is the main stepped forward interest equipment as much as now and blows away the junky Nintendo Wii (with infrequently any new constructive properties from the Gamecube and in simple terms backside line video games), or the XBOX 360. notice: at the instant the PS3 would not have many video games obtainable, yet do notice that approximately 6 or 7 are popping out in March.

Actually, I'm shocked. I like my electronics, gadgets, and toys as much as the next person. But I can't believe how crazy people have gone over video gaming systems. I'm sure it's a great toy. But it's just that...a TOY.
I don't mean to be the "fun police." But I seriously think people are so far removed from what is really important in their live that they have started literally fighting over the very things we use to replace what's important. (Does that make any sense to anyone?)
I find it sort of perverted that people would pay not only more than the thing is WORTH, but more than even the jacked-up retail value for something that will be half-price in four weeks.
Sigh...maybe I'm getting old.
My answer is no. I would never pay the kind of money being asked. I don't believe it's worth it in ANY way. And the hype? I'm dismayed that people fall for the marketing techniques being used to manipulate them. It's sad, really.

no. what's the point in buying it when in the next year or so a newer one w/ better graphics and a cooler name is going to come up? and all the people that bought their PS3's are going to run to store windows and wait for hours on end to buy the new one. and later forget all about the PS3.
Do I think its worth the money? no. why spend $600 or so dollars on a piece of plastic, wires, and all that lovely jazz...
not a video game person if you couldn't tell. i like the "old school" games on Nitendo..which i believe i just spelled wrong..lol.

I don't own it or have any experience with it, but while at EB Games in Pittsburgh last night, I overheard the guy at the counter and another customer saying that it was good, but didn't leave them awestruck. The clerk actually told the customer, "I can't believe you actually bought it."

My PS2 is enough. I don't want to blow/waste $600 on a PS3.
