Because our society has no use for anyone who gets old. My brothers, sister & myself are taking care of my mother who has had several strokes & heart attacks and is on disabilty. My mother, sister, & myself have all been nurses aides in nursing homes & there is no way anyone who has ever worked in places like that would dare put someone they love in a place like that. It so very sad.

For one thing, all the children are living in one place that the mother is looking after. Her children can be living all over the creation, some overseas, others in different states, or maybe some health issues of their own. If someone is just old and has reasonable health, they may not have to be in a care home. If several of the children are living in the same home with the mother, perhaps they can look after her if it's not extreme circumstances. There are different reasons why someone may put their mother in a care home. If she needs around the clock care or very close supervision (alzheimer for instance) a care home may be the best solution. However though, whatever the circumstances are , every effort should be made to keep the mother at home before placing her in a care home.

im a live in carer and i know how much hard work elderl people can be , the lady i look after has 24 hour care , she has 2 daughters who also have children and jobs , i work shifts , there is know way i could look ater her 24 hours a day so how would her daughters , i think its to easilly said that its wrong for the children not to look after her but how could they really if they have work and kids , it wouldnt be shift work would it , and also care homes have trained carers to do this job , it couldnt be just done by anyone who hasnt had training ,depending on what is wrong with her and what medication she is on , theres alot of issues around these situations looking after your mother or father is easier said than done . . .

It is a sad concept when you think about it.
But under the serfuce you have to think about the old persons kids who my already have 5 children of there own and then that would mean the cousins. And then their kids might of had kids.
Its bad old people have to get put in homes but most improtantly their family is continuing the lifeline through their children.

That's a good question, I definitely would take care of my mother if she needed me to, she has always taken care of my sisters and I.
Another point is when these people put their parents in care homes, why do they look so shocked and surprised that their parents assets must be sold to pay for it? If they want to inherit they should take care of the elderly folk and if they don't want to don't expect the tax -payer to pay for it.

You don't give birth to children so that you have someone to look after you in old age. Personally, I would not want any of my three children to take care of me. They have their own lives to lead.

Because in this age and day, its VERY uncommon for children to want to take care of their parents... I know I WOULD in a heart beat if my dad needed me to, but it would be VERY difficult.

a women with 5 kids one her own is probably not looking after them
the state and ASBOS are
the welfare state paying for them
so they have no proper upbringing to help them cope with the old women
its called the lower class
