It has to be. The term filthy rich means the richest of the rich. Many filthy rich give to charities and other organizations but the percentage most give away is usually small compared to their worth, and the places their money goes almost always benefits them or their friends rather than actual people in need. Bill Gates and his wife are the exception, along with a small list of others we will call the mega rich. Most donations and charities are anonymous so the truth of who gives how much is unknown and really none of our business. Wealthy people tend to get labeled greedy because of the way most obtain their wealth, most rich people have created their wealth from other peoples losses and hardships, most of the filthy rich have burned many bridges and sold their souls to the almighty dollar.

I don't necessarily think that all filthy rich people are greedy, but I do think that the 2 are associated with each other most of the time. I guess it's hard not to when you see their multimillion dollar homes, yachts, planes, cars, etc.etc, and wonder just how much any one person really needs or can even use. I think ego plays a part in all this too.

What I associate greed with is a lack of class...hords of people pushing to buy the toy that was just released in the market. People who go to buffets and stack up their foods only to leave them halfway eaten. So no I don't think being super rich makes a person greedy. They'd probably have to make more responsible choices for the livelihoods of employees depend on them.

The reason why filthy rich people give to charities is because they know they can get a taxbreak on it. Show me a filthy rich person that gives and does not expect anything in return.

Sometimes because if you were a generous and giving person and you didnt keep all the money you were blessed with then you would no longer be filthy rich anyway.

It's not wrong to have money, just don't let the money have you. There are so many things you can do when you have money, you can bless lot's of people and do good things with it or you can choose to do evil things
.Do not be greedy and selfish, give,give.give!.
The Lord will bless you if you give with a cheerful heart.

I think so....I'v never met anyone with money that truely likes to share....I mean think about it.....of all these rich people out there, they all live in big fancy houses, drive fancy cars, have fancy things in their homes, etc....If they would all just help out, there should not be one homeless person in America, no one should be hurting for money to pay simple things like gas, electric, food, etc....If I were that rich, I would feel guilty about having such things knowing that there are people out there needing such things, ya know?! I would call the electric co. etc, and ask who is up for a shut off and pay thier bills for them. I know I couldn't pay everyones, but it would sure feel good helping out who I could. If only everyone could think like this....but that is never going to happen.

Generally, yes. It's a stereotype, and unfair, but I think most people do believe that.
I don't think it's always true, myself, though. Lots of very wealthy people are generous with their money for certain projects, so...
