1) scientific: Airplane (Air+Plane) it flies due to instrumentation arrangement in the airplane pilot deck. Pilots can read the path between two airports. That information from satelite geo-sychornization.

2) Astrophysics: Gravitional pull from the earth.

A pilot flies his plane with reference to the ground, cross wind, head wind. The rotation of the earth has no bearing on the airplane, just like when you jump up you are not accelerated, but are still relative to the rotation of the earth....KECK

They use radio compass. it points to a radio beacon and when they pass over that one they tune to the next one,and just follow the chain.
