I get this now and then the only relief I ever got was through a Chiropractor. You can check your phone book for a Chiropractic doctor near you.

In the first place are you sure it's a "crick" in your neck and not a pinched nerve in your cervical spine, between the 6th and first vertebrae?
I'm sure the chiropractor will give you a X-Ray or should. Then he can go from there, either try and treat you or send you to a Neurologist.
I wouldn't try and go beyond a heating pad or ice packs for treatment at home until you know for sure what's wrong.

Gentle moist heat and an anti-inflammatory if you are not allergic to them will help a lot. Time usually cures cricks but they are still not very pleasant!
