We have quite a few escaped pet monkeys in FL. In the everglades there are some "hammocks" which have trees. While monkeys like fruit, they are omnivores as we are, so they would fish & eat other animals they could catch. They are also accomplished thieves, so if they are not caught by people, they will steal whatever they can from us. As for the second part, they would evolve as we did. Primates can already communicate with sign language & teach it to others. We still have a coccyx (tail bone) We're not that different.

None. Many monkey species do live in swampy areas - especially in the tropics. Some species rarely, if ever, come down from the trees.

Less hair and skin like leather, to keep them dryer and they would eat more fish.
