I work for a small contracting company; I am in the process of working on securing a multi-million dollar contract for them; should I expect a certain percentage for all of my extra work. Or should I just leave and take my contract with me.

Since you are already working for them, be very careful.
You found out about the contract through your work.
You could be sued for everything you own...both you personally and your future earnings!!!

Perhaps you need to talk to a lawyer.

They expect you to work for them, do not attempt to steal their contract...or expected contract. You are spending your time and their money as you work for them......although somehow you're beginning to be tempted to do things that may be considered illegal..............really what are you thinking?

Either way you are on very shaky legal ground and would most likely lose in court.

If you have not negotiated a portion of the proceeds as a commission in advance you have no legal right to ask for money after you have begun the negotiations. That's called extortion.

If you leave and take the client with you then you could be liable to the original contracting company for multi-millions, the value of the contract.

Well no you should stay but you must think about when you said you would do this mult-million contract. The reason I say that is you could have said Yes I will do that.......And they may think you mean for free!! But I think you should stay and see how it works out!!! Have a Great day!!
