hmm at age 13 i was into Nicholas Sparks.
The Guardian was one i really enjoyed. This is kind of a long summary, but this was the shortest i could find.

Julie Barenson's young husband left her two unexpected gifts before he died - a puppy named Singer and the promise that he would always be watching over her. Now, four years later, twenty-nine-year-old Julie is far too young to have given up on love. She may be ready to risk caring for someone again. But who?" Should it be Richard Franklin, the sophisticated, handsome engineer who treats her like a queen? Or Mike Harris, the down-to-earth nice guy who was her husband's best friend? Choosing one of them should bring her more happiness than she's had in years. Instead, Julie is soon fighting for her life in a nightmare spawned by a chilling deception and jealousy so poisonous that it has become a murderous desire.

It has romance... but you get a horrifying twist. Its good :)

Title A Great and Terrible Beauty

Auther Libba Bray

brief summery This is a really good book about a girl who just turned 16 and her mother dies. She is an English girl that lives in India. Her family moves to England with the grandmother and Gemma (The girl) is sent to boarding school to become a proper young lady. Well she meets some new people makes freinds, enemies and learns something about herself that will change her life and the lives of many others forever.

This book has fantasy, romance (no real sex scenes, just kissing and making out), adventure, and more. It is suspenseful and a book I personally couldn't put down. It is about 400 pages. If you read this and like it, there is also a sequel, Rebel Angels.
Hope you decide to read this book, its awesome!

At 13? Any of the Harry Potter books or A Series of Unfortunate Events is good as well.

Harry Potter books are:
J.K. Rowling, too many books to summarize and I'm sure you know them by now. Orphaned wizard joins school, goes after guy who killed his parents...etc

Series of Unfortunate Events are by:
Lemony Snicket, too many to summarize. Kids orphaned, seek revenge when bad things just seem to keep happening to them. (I've only read the first)

May be a bit old, but a wonderful story...The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle. The last unicorn in the world hunts down the others who've been chased into the sea by a red flaming bull, which was put up to the task by an evil king. Check it out, it's a good book.

Another one is "The Empty Locket" but it's available only by free download through http://www.lulu.com. Just go there and run a search for "The Empty Locket." Couple of teenagers discover they're part of a hidden society in the mountains. They're actually the prince and princess of the dual monarchy (2 ruling families). There's a good preview of it there you can read, and a synopsis.

i'd propose Meg Cabot, truthfully. What I do even as i'm searching for a competent e book is only bypass to the close by library and only look at each and each and every of the books that are there. in case you want romantic books for youths, look into Simon and Pulse Romantic Comedies. also, Sarah Dessen has some fairly reliable books. in case you don't love lengthy books, then you truthfully would like That summer season. wish this facilitates!

I loved the Sweet Valley Series when I was your age, they are great books by Francine Pascal. They're about a set of twins who are totally different and span their lives from grade school through college. There's, like, a thousand of these books but you don't have to read them in order. Also Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice is the best book ever and your never to young for classics.

My recommendation would have to be "Justin Thyme" by Panama Oxridge. It's got everything: spies, time travel, memory-loss, a teenage billionaire, a computer-literate gorilla, the Loch Ness Monster and an eight-legged cat! Plus there's a 14 year-old girl in it with a real biting sense of humour! Best of all the book's full of cryptic messages hidden in the text, and even though I finished it almost a week ago, I can't resist trying to find just one more hidden clue.

You can visit the book's official web site if you want more information and buying links.

You could always read the books from Robert Newton Peck. He has written over 60 books. His most famous are A Day No Pigs Would Die, Soup, Soup and Me, Millie's Boy, Fawn and Trig. I have provided a link to a website that has the names of his books and descriptions.

If you liked Harry Potter, give King Fortis the Brave a try. It's about a pair of twins about your age that are pulled into a magical world where they get caught up in a battle for control of the land. It's full of humor and adventure and I think you will really like it!

Singing Songs by Meg Tilly it is about the abuse she and her sisters and brothers experienced by thier step father growing up.

It may be a bit to much for a 13 year old.--- You could always read "Are you there GOd it's me Margaret" by Judy Blume- it's about growing up and getting and going through puberty.
I read when I was either 11 or 13 can't remember.

Definitely Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events. My daughter read them. She is 15 and just bought the final book of the series. I even read them because they are cleverly written. They will become classics for future generations. They are easy to read and very engaging. Hard to put down!
