Orangutans are anthropoid apes or great apes. The living anthropoid apes consist of Chimpanzees, Bonobos, Gorillas, Orangutans, and of course, Humans. Gigantopithecus lived as recently as 50,000 years ago in Southeast Asia, and some think they may still exist, deep in the jungles.
