Is there any way to check and see if it is the motor or the switch on a 2000 venture drivers side power window, it don't do anything and just quit with no warning.

Test it to see if you have electrical poer to and throught the switsh. If you do it is not the switch. You can use a simple test light for this test. Have a fun day.

one of the most simple ways to determine if a window motor has failed-and i know this sounds barbaric-with the key in the on position, hold the affected windows switch in the down/or up position(depending where the window is actually positioned)and slam that door very hard.if the brushes in the window motor are worn down and are stuck to the motor armature-this will sometimes break the motors inner mechanism free and the winow will operate just long enough to get it back up.if that doesnt work--the next best thing is to remove the door panel and disconnect the wiring connector at the motor(just a two wire connector)and test for power and ground with a ssimple 12 volt test lamp across the terminals of the connector while operating the window switch in both directions for that window with the key in the on position-if the power and ground supply are good your lamp will illuminate.-if it doesnt then you may have a faulty switch-or possibly faulty wiring----keep in mind power window motors are notorious for premature failure--most folks take for granted the number of times a window is operated, and dont realize each time it is operated it wears on the unit..............good luck with your diagnosis.

i own a repair shop, and you can pull the switch out,and check for power on it,and you can also jump the wires over and see if the motor runs this way its usually the switch on these vehicles,i have replaced a lot of them before,if all the other windows work ,then id say you need a new switch on it,they give a lot of trouble, but that's how you can find out, good luck i hope this help,s,,and have a happy thanksgiving.
