was hanging out with a girl last night, and we were having a pretty good time watching movies and talking. I liked her personality and thought she was attractive, so when we got some alone time I tried to kiss her. But she stopped me. She said she just didn't feel that type of "chemistry" with me. She said she thought I was nice, funny, intelligent and cute, but she just didn't feel the "chemistry", and couldn't really explain why.

This isn't the first time I've heard the "chemistry" explanation from a girl who sees my positive traits but still rejects me. It is a bit frustrating and perplexing. Can you help me figure out what the whole "chemistry" thing is all about?

Physical and mental attraction all rolled into one. It sounds like in this instance, there is some mental attraction. The full term is "chemical attraction" with the emphasis on attraction. It became"chemistry" because it is a lot easier to say, "it is not the right chemistry" than it is to say "I am not attracted to you that way". This does not mean it will never be this way, the best things are worth waiting/working for, perhaps they wish to see if you view them as a "best" thing?

ATTRACTION:
QUOTE:
Attraction

In general, attraction is a force that moves one object to another.

In physics, attraction may be gravity or electromagnetic force.
If, for a person, some object, situation, feeling, etc., or another person, is attractive, this means it/he/she causes enjoyment.
In the case another person is attractive we have interpersonal attraction. One form of attractivity, not necessarily sexual, is appeal of facial features. If interpersonal attraction is mutual it may lead to friendship or a romantic relationship that may or may not include sexual relations.
