Since the cost for a 100' yacht is $1500, the cost for a tanker or cargo ship can be much more in the Panama Canal. Several yacht clubs have been complaining lately because the canal is NOT friendly to small vessels. If you are not a commercial vessel, they would be happy if you would just go away. The first link below will give you the listed prices for using the Panama Canal based on the type of ship and the status of the ship (ballast only, ballast & cargo or passengers).

For the Suez Canal, get ready to dish out some bucks. The 2nd link below is for calculating the total cost of using the Suez Canal. They start stacking different fees one right after another. I did a test of it using the specs for a 30 ton privet trawler. the cost came out to almost $4000.

The last we heard, from cruisers, was $1500. Plus you neeland handlers. They are not interested in small boats.
