Freeview is good value for money - you can buy a Freeview box from around £30 (you may also need to buy a new aerial to get better reception) but there is NO subscription charge.
Sky or Cable do offer a lot more channels but will charge you a monthly subscription cost.
PS You should have a look at the Freeview site & check to see if you can get reception in your area.

Well Freeview and Sky are two different things in my eyes.
You can have Sky Freesat which is more available to people in certain areas that a freeview box and provides over 200+ channels.
That costs £150 and wiht that you get the box and standard installation plus the sky card.
Freeview is ok if you can get it but doesn't give so much as as Sky Freesat which I have.
Goodluck! :)

I think Freeview is great. I changed from network TV a year ago so it's a vast improvement to have so many channells to choose from. It might seem tame to someone who's used to Sky TV though. It all depends what you watch the most of but there are usually good films to be found and I love ITV 3 with all the detective series like Morse and Frost. There's good music channells too. Good luck deciding.

Get sky. I've got a freeview box and it is better than the normal channels but doesnt compare to the choice sky offers.

Depends what you after in terms of viewing, but you tend to get way more channels with Sky. I have a freeview box and it's pretty good for me, however, for some reason the signal in may area has recently gone funny and I've lost a couple of the channels (the hits, tmf, film4) I liked to watch.

Well we cant afford sky or cable so we brought freeview box and I must admit I have not been disopointed> I think it just depends on how much watching all the other channels means to you. My daughter loves her music and there are great radio stations and music stations on freeview she brought one for her bedroom now.
I love watching ITV2 for follow up on Xfactor/jungle (sad I know) also if we go out may miss Corrie and they put it on later on there. I also love E4 and history channel we now get the etra channel 5's but dont hold your breath on that.
As a one off payment you cant go wrong especially as it is getting towards christmas. If it says your postcode will not work ignore it mine is not suppose to work and they all do we have one in living room and one in each bedroom. You just tune it in several times until you get all channels.
Go on save your money and at the best it just gives you an idea as to if you want to move on to sky.

Go for cable TV - that's somewhere in the middle in terms of cost & decent programmes. It costs less than Sky, but you get more channels than Freeview. Cost somewhere between £20-£30 if you can bear to be parted from that much cash each month.

Freeview does give you digital TV and some good free channels. Sky is OK but can be expensive depending on the packages you want.
You can view the different package provided at sky.co.uk
