if your baby seems satisfied with the amount of milk that she/he is getting - then don't switch.

if they suck and suck and suck and seem to get frustrated - switch to bigger size (or just shove a fork tine through the old one and open it up ;) ) babies usually want "more" (faster milk flow) when they are older.

You will switch the nipple as the baby grows and starts to teeth then it is time to get a nipple with a flow that will fit the baby. But try not to go for the nipple with a fast flow until the baby is at least 7 to 8 months old. There are bottles out there were you can change the flow by adjusting the nipple.

Hope this is useful.

its time to switch when ur baby starts to get frustrated. He/she is hungry, u KNOW theyre hungry, but when they suck from the bottle they begin to let go of the nipple a lot, and start fussing. Just remember to put a bib on when u do switch, because the baby is going to have to adjust to this new flow and might be kinda messy at first! good luck!

if it seems your baby is sucking extra hard to get milk out then maybe go up a size. mine never really went up in size, it just wasnt an issue. if your planning on using cereal in babies bottle then maybe a larger nipple size. other than that i just dont think its an issue.

It's not the size, it's how many holes. With AVent which I use, you use one hole till one month of age. You then use 2 holes until 3 months, then 3 holes from then on. There are four hole ones available as well but they are kind of optional in my opionion, we just stick with the 3 holes at that point.
