I need a cure for writer's block. I get it for weeks on end where I can't write a thing! I can't just let it runs it's course because I'm writing a book and I have deadlines that I have to meet, and I'm really struggling. I need something, some kind of advise, that will get me out of these slumps! Please help!

There's the problem: Your deadlines are causing you to crash and burn.

Are these work deadlines or personal deadlines?

My advice is to take a couple weeks off FROM your work and just do something that's non-writer related.

I have the same problem! What usually helps me, though, is to go to a public garden in the area, find a quiet spot, and just sit for awhile and think. You need to get away from daily stresses so your mind isn't cluttered with reality. LOL.

I've never had any luck pushing myself when well and truly written out. You might want to try doing something else...something boring that's been waiting for you to have time for it. Do yardwork, sort unneeded household items for charity, bake bread, make a lot of a labor-intensive dish and freeze it for later. Sometimes not-too-complex, boring chores open the creative gates...you'll start daydreaming to amuse yourself, and your mind may slip easily back into its creative mode. I try to use the creative dry spots to do catch-up in other areas.

Just put away your writing and don't think about it. Go about your day doing something else, and an idea may come to you without any effort. Sometimes it takes awhile, but don't force it.
