Did you know that 'Humpty Dumpty' was the name of a large cannon that was used in the English Civil War (1642 – 1649)?

How about 'Jack and Jill'? Did you know that it’s about King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette’s beheading?

I often wondered why nursery rhymes were so tragic. So, I looked them up and found this site http://www.rhymes.org.uk/index.htm. I must say that I learned a lot. Very interesting!

so you found out that "ring-of-roses" was about the plague in europe.see this is why i read books.all that sort of info was written down years ago but it takes the internet for ppl to learn.am i the only one that doesnt rely on the internet?
