I have an oval Santa light bulb. My grandmother bought it when my dad was a kid. It's from the 1930s. Obviously, it hasn't worked for many, many years, but it's been on every Christmas tree I've ever had. Now that my grandmother and dad have died, I have it and it always gets a prominent place on my tree.

I make ornaments every year and attach them to the gifts I give out. I'm actually trying to get my tree to the point where nearly all of the ornaments are handmade. That bulb is one of the few store bought ones that will make the cut and stay.

I don't but we have a Christmas tradition. Each year we go out and each pick out a new one for our special one that year. We put our name on the bottom of it. So, when my daughter is grown, we will have built up quite a collection and they will be handed down to her and her family when she gets older. I hope she continues with the tradition. Can you imagine all the ornaments???
