At first I thought wow thats nice.( saving birds from oil spills). but then I noticed the film of them washing a duck and later a mom penguin were "simulated" so I realized they were torturing some innocent animal all to make a commercial.... then I looked into it more and realized DAWN is made by Proctor & Gamble... the company most notorios with cruel animal testing (and also the company responsible for the lower quality of IAMS and EUKANUBA foods since they bought these foods out years ago)...
Proctor and Gamble are synonomous with crueltly.. did anyone else see these commercials and what were your thoughts???

I did see the commercial-I must have missed something. However, I will watch for the commercial and decide if "simulation: was in my eyesight. No one nor nothing should be tortured!!!

You are right. Those are innocent animals. And who knows how many birds they killed if they tried to cause oil spills just to wash the birds off. I've seen those Dawn commercials but I always thought that those were accident oil spills, not ones made purposely. I could understand if they were able to just film an oil spill that they didn't cause on purpose and then take those birds that were harmed by it to clean them off. But to create oil spills on purpose is not only harming the birds, it's also harming our environment. It would be a whole lot better if the Dawn company could get in touch with the news channels all around the world. That way whenever ther is an oil spill they can just get their company people that are over there already and have them clean off the animals. Not only will it be better advertisement, but the people all around the world will see in real life that they are actually helping out their environment, no matter where, therefore causing them to get even more profits. When leaks get out, like this, that they are actually causing the oil spills, their profit will drop. So it is best not to even do those bad things that could leak out some day. That goes with everything, not just dish soap companies.

the soap doesn't hurt the birds worse than the oil does

P&G's Dawn Comes To The Rescue For Oil-Slicked Birds
Procter & Gamble is doing its part to help save birds injured by an oil tanker spill off the northwestern coast of Spain.
The Bahamas-flagged tanker, Prestige, was carrying 20 million gallons of fuel oil -- twice what the Exxon Valdez spilled in Alaska 13 years ago -- when it ruptured in stormy weather on November 13.

The spilled fuel oil has contaminated fisheries, blackened beaches and killed wildlife along a 125-mile stretch of the Iberian peninsula.

Now, P&G's Dawn dish soap is coming to the rescue.

"We figure we have nothing to lose. The birds are going to die if we don't do this," said Jay Holcomb of the International Bird Rescue and Research Center, who contacted P&G Tuesday, requesting more than 1,000 bottles of Dawn.

The bottles are expected to be shipped Wednesday.

It has been decades since environmentalists first turned to Dawn for help in a similar situation.

"They contacted us back in 1978 because after testing many products, Dawn was really the best at removing grease while being delicate on the birds gentle skin," said P&G's Melissa Johnson.

Not only does Dawn apparently work best on oil-slicked birds and other aquatic animals, it also works well on cleaning up cargo spills; Dawn was used in 1998 when a large truck overturned, dumping animal fat on I-74.

hurting any animal is cruel. all they are trying to tell you dawn can break down any kind of oil. if the oil comes off the bird, it will come of your dishes.
they could have filmed that when there was an oil spill and decided to edit it and make a commercial out of it.

I have - and to be honest there are soooooooooooo many things about soooooooooo many of these companies that we are never going to know.
I do however, know that the soap has proven to be highly beneficial to those animals - alothough they may not like the bathing - it does remove the oil that would eventually kill them. Like those animals we have at home - sometimes you just have to get them to do what is better for them. I have washed some of my own in the soap, for it kills mites and fleas that could be harmful o them. No, they sure didnt like the bath time - but they felt sooooooooooo much better afterwards.
It is just taking the good with the bad.

specific, I in simple terms observed the duck/sunrise commercial. different birds have been released, like heron and pelicans, that supposedly been washed sparkling. on account that i did no longer have the sound on, i wanted to renowned extra. My thought could be that sunrise would not be a secure product to apply, yet I nonetheless could renowned extra and could proceed finding.

I saw the commercial and was glad that their product would get that oil off the animals.
I didn't know the history.
