I am 13 years old. I read at a rate of 260 WPM. My english class is reading a novel called "Alas, Babylon". Even though I can read at a good speed, in order for me to understand what I have read, I read very slowly. The rate drops down to around 110 WPM. How can I develop my reading comphrension and reading speed to become quicker?

Ahhh, easy....what...when..where...last chapter...ME..
Ask yourself questions before you read anything.
1. What is the author trying to tell me?
2. When did this story take place?
3. Where did this take place?
4. What's in the last chapter - this usually summarizes what happened.
5. Me - What did I get out of reading this book - what gift did I receive by reading it? Did it make me think...that's one gift?

As you ask yourself questions before you open the book, and your mind will look for the excellence and answer your questions.

You have the power to conquer...and none of that is determined by the speed...Just think of the changes in life...that are not measured by wpm.

First, you may stop searching at it as a chore - some thing that you mind-set with that concepts-set only makes it harder (not putting forward that you unavoidably attempt this, yet....) attempt to get enthusiastic about it - discover out why it is been assigned/ what makes it major/"large" and then you'll have some thing to look out for and question once you're interpreting it, so that you're variety of changing a secret. and then attempt to be affected individual with what you're interpreting - do not attempt to hurry through it (so do not examine it once you do not fairly have time), and attempt to take a seat in environment that make you experience somewhat immersed in what you're interpreting - like an previous library or study or some thing, in case you may. And, very last yet not least, in spite of the actuality that I gained't do it myself - watch a movie version first (first, not really), it frequently facilitates you realize the e book.

I think that reading practice is probably the best thing, which I know is really no answer at all. Reading out loud may help, or using notes so that you know what the basic plot is before you read, helping you to pick out what the core meaning of the text is.
