I'm 19 and in college but still living at home. I don't want to work in sales or anything that involves handling money. And definately not fast food. I would prefer a part time job. I'm not too concerned about how much I make, but I want to get some meaningful job experence. I love kids and being around people, but I'm still a little shy so something that does not involve too much interacting with large groups of people would be better. The only current job experience I have is working with a developmentally disabled person in his home, caring for him, taking him places,that sort of stuff. I still do it during the summers but I need a job for the rest of the year.

Perhaps finding something in your field of study. You didn't mention what your career plans are. Anything that would benefit getting you foot in the door before graduation.
If you like working with children maybe working at a daycare.
What about the public library? You can work there part time and the pay is decent.

Go to the agencies and apply to be a PCA or an aide in a group home or sheltered workshop. They'd love to have a person like you because the turnover is horrible. My son lives with 4 other autistic men and they have a housedad who lives with them in the home, but during the day it's a workshop where they build birdhouses for a living. The 2nd in command in the workshop is a young woman about your age, and she is also still in school. She seems to have a hard time relating to the boss but she gets along great with the guys because she's so cool and quiet. I volunteer there once a week and she does a lot better than me because I tend to get giddy and want to hug people, and that is SUCH a no-no.
But I hope you can stay with your summertime client too. stability is everything.

Check with your college registrar, a lot of the times they have Work/Study programs, that will help you with your tuition, books and living expsenses. Even just list jobs.
When I went to MSU (Michigan State University) I got a job through work study as the secretary to the Campus Judicial Advisor. Very interesting job, if you don't want to do fast food, sales, etc, look into it.

A job at a nuclear power plant pays well, has little public contact and great job security. Sounds good to me.

kindergarten maybe; what other hobbies you have? if you like reading try to work in library.......but i guess you should work in sales; it is the best thing to overcome your shyness; try to work as sales in a small shop or something; that will better
