In order to do wireless networking you need a device that connects to the internet that is capable of sending a wireless signal to other devices. In this case it's you wireless router.

Secondly you need a pc or laptop that capable of recieving a wireless signal. Most laptop today come with built in wireless cards, No PC do unless it is requested at the time of building.

If you laptop or PC is already capable of connection wirelessly then you are ready to go.

Ethernet cables have 8 wires or an RJ45 and your telco cables have 4 wires or an RJ11 connection.

If you just purchased a wireless router and want to connect to you ISP then you will need to setup the router with the information provided from your ISP to make a connection to the. Normally you email address and password.

Depending on the model router you will need to enter the router configuration to set this up. In most cases a ADSL modem is not needed as most router now day have the capability built in.

Check the instruction for your router, it should detail the setup instructions. If you are unable to connect to your ISP try giving them a call to make sure it's a supported router. If it's a supported router they will walk you through the setup and configuration of the router.

While doing the setup it is highly recommended that you make a wired connection to the router from your PC this can be done with the ethernet cable (RJ45 8 wire cable). It should obtain an IP address from the router automatically.

Although the cables look similar they are different and will only properly fit into the correct slot.

You should have a cord coming from the wall then into your router. If you have broadband, the cord coming from the wall will look very similiar to a cable tv cord. Next, this blue cord your discussing must be the ethernet cable. Looks like a telephone cord but with bigger connections on the end.
One the back of the router you may have several openings to put this in. The extra one are for hooking up other devices that need to connect to the internet.
You should have one main opening on the back of the router, that's where to plug the blue cord into, and then you probably only have one space in the back of your computer tower that will accept the other end.
I hope this helps.

The incoming signal from your ISP needs to be de-multiplexed with a modem. If your router does not have a modem, you need to get one.
You would then connect the "Internet" port of your router to the "PC" or "Computer" port on your Modem.
