I recently bought a new pc and broadband. I have installed all the usual, firewall, spyware etc, but every time I boot up or try to log on to the internet it takes ages. Could somebody please help?
Many thanks - Steve (from UK - England)

How much memory do you have? If your at 512mb or less I would increase it to 1 gig minimum.
Check your start-up folder and see how many programs are there. And remove any programs you don't need to run everytime you start your PC. Spyware and Anti-Virus software programs tend to use a lot of resources when booting up in order to protect your system. Also hit ctrl-alt-del and see what processes and programs are also running in the background. If you don't know what everything is go to Yahoo search engine and drop the name of some of the things running your bound to get a good answer.

uninstall all the antivirus and keep just one faithful, powerful A.V.,
don't put so many desktop icons, that's it. best of luck
