Contractions are actually timed from the start of one to the start of another. Length is important, too. If you start a contraction at 10:00 and it lasts until 10:02, and the next one comes at 10:05, your contractions are 5 minutes apart, 2 minutes in length.

You can of course call the doc if you want, but they'll tell you wait until they're more like 10 min's apart. Another thing they tell us is when you KNOW you're in labor, if you're still in the giggly/smiley phase, wait (unless you or your family have a history of fast labor).

Go to the hospital and the worst they can do is send you back home. But they will check you to see if you have dilated anymore and maybe check your contractions to see how often you are getting them. Good Luck.

It sounds like you are in labor. Please call your doctor and they will advise you on what to do next. Make note of the time a contraction starts and ends and the time it takes for another one to come. Good luck!

Your proably having contractions. When one starts you time from the time it ends to the time the next one starts. I wouldnt call the doctor now..i wouldnt want to spend two days in the hospital waiting for my contractions to speed up...if i was you id go for a walk...or something to speed them up maybe even have sex{thats what worked for me!] Goodluck and congratulations!!!
