What other tranny will fit in 1987 Cadillac, rear wheel drive with a factory 5.0 Olds engine and a 200 metric tranny. Would like to put in bigger tranny without changing alot of things. How about a 350 turbo from an Oldsmobile? Kinda stupid to put a small tranny into a big car like Cadillac did from the factory.

Caddys, olds, buick, and pontiacs use whay is called a BOP bolt pattern. They should match up I would look for a 700r4 to take advantage of the over drive. One of the earlier models that do not require computer control Next i would look at the ever faithfull th 400. Have a fun day.

I think the TH350 non-lockup with BOP bellhousing pattern is a direct swap. Man that 200 metric was crap-ola. You may need to tweak the tranny cooler lines or the downshift cable, but it should fit. Get the metric and the TH350 side-by-side on the ground, and measure overall length, and distance from bellhousing to tranny mount. Hopefully the tranny X-member won't have to move, and the driveshaft length won't have to change.

You may need to use the TH-350 driveshaft yoke when doing the swap. Best to use a new converter and flush the tranny cooler lines, to prevent cross-contamination. The 200 Metric likely put metal shavings in its converter and cooler.
