Basically i'm after 2 x 2" steel end caps and a 7/16” threaded rod with two 7/16” nuts and washers. I haven't got a clue where to get them. Grateful for any help

Screwfix have the threaded rod and the nuts/washers. But they don't seem to have the end caps. If you look at this picture, this is what i'm looking for (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=136043&stc=1&d=1132416190). Do you think iron mongers will have these? They might not even be called end caps! Thanks for your help

Try this link if the other doesn't work http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=136043&stc=1&d=1132416190

It isn't a car part, it is just a bowl shaped piece of steel. I need 2 so i can bodge together a device for installing a rear trailing arm bush. Imagine two bowls linked by a threaded rod, then tightening two bolts on either end of the rod - forcing the bowls together.

Hi,

I registered for BimmerForums so I could see the part you refer to as an "end cap". Looks like a main dealer only part to me. Without knowing what it does and what part of vehicle it's from, I can't say what would be the best/safest work around.

Would a "penny washer" be suitable as a work around?

Screwfix are good, but their pack sizes are often too large for DIY as they are more of a trade supplier. Warehouse Direct do a similar range, but smaller pack sizes:
