when its closed it just shows you are on a securedsite. open unsecured site.

Do not buy anything from a site that has a padlock open!!!!

That padlock will activate when you are connecting under a secured connection, ie https://

the Pad lock is controlled by the web page you are on. if you go to your bank, you should see it close. only works on secure sites.. hope this helps!

CHANGE THE SETTINGS IN TOOLS/ INTERNET OPTIONS/ SECURITY/ TO DEFAULT . you are wide open to spy-ware Trojan viruses etc. never use the Internet without protecting yourself from hackers. hope you are using are FIREWALL.
