I am a rapper and I'm trying to find interesting topics to talk about that will get the attention of younger and older people.

Now THAT'S an interesting question.

My 1st suggestion would be to Totally break from all the cliched hip hop topics & make a complete 180 degree flip.

Write about other wolds..worlds you've created from your own imaginations.

Dreams

Science fiction/fantasy songs

Historical events from a "traveler's" view

Need inspiration?

Look for:

"Roundabout", "I've Seen All Good People", "Close to the Edge" by Yes

"Xanadu", "Red Barchetta", "Natural Science" by Rush

"Journey from Mariabronn" by Kansas

Now THAT'D be Very differeent for rap music!

Keep us posted on what you come up with!

do not rap about how many vehicles and material possessions you own. Nothing is more outdated than that. That will not make the song sound any better. I still prefer the older rap material over the modern rap material. Be creative and original. Think Slick Rick and Eric B & Rakim. They are such great storytellers. I do not care if you grew up in the projects or the richest neighborhood in the world. That will not make you a good rapper. You must convince your audience. They have to believe you. You mentioned interesting topics. Well, talk about your life and situations. No one knows you better than yourself and your life so write about what you know and may like. What do you think is interesting? I wish you the best of luck.

How about being completely different than anything that we hear booming out of the cars going down the street?

1) Rap so that we can understand you. Shushing your words out because you have gems and gold all over your teeth, ugh. More spit than speech.

2) Use English. No more "dey be hay-tin!" It makes you sound like you're some ignorant, trash-class fool.

3) We've heard all we need to about banging hos, killing cops, pimped out rides, drinkin' 40s. How about something else?

GUns and more killing and smoking weed and pimping out your biatches... More killing... Then talk about yourself and how great your are for the next two minutes... Insult Bush, police, any figure in authority- even the Pope (nobody has bashed Nazi Pope yet- now u get the chance!!!)... Guns and more killing and smoking weed and pimping out your biatches...
