I have used WD-40 and found it very effective.
I spray the area that needs to be removed and let it sit for a few minutes then gently rub off with a damp rag.
Be sure to do this over a paper towel or a sink, as the WD-40 will run.
I use this for getting the residue stickiness that duct tape always leaves and for those nasty stickers that stores seem to put on glass, as well.

In UK there is an aerosol called "label remover" it is sold by Robert Dyas and Maplins and probably some others.

heat up with hair dryer, remove as much as you can with gentle fingernail and thumb, then use goo-gone.

steam it off.boiling water and just steam n it should come off easy.
