would a repeat happen if todays people truley believed we were being invaded by aliens?

In October 30, 1938 as a Halloween special, Orson Welles gained international notoriety for his radio broadcast of H. G. Wells' The War of the Worlds, which panicked millions of listeners into believing the broadcast was real and we were being invaded by aliens from outer space. people went crazy and killed them selves rather then let aliens get them.

the media controls everything now anyway so i think a repeat could occur...if that's what the government wanted us to believe.
i guess what scares me the most is that people don't know who Orson Welles OR HG Wells are...they just know that tom cruise was in that movie...that's the real anal probe!!

In 1938 there weren't law suits being filed every five minutes for things as simple as being scalded by a hot cup of coffee, so no, I don't think anybody would risk opening themselves up to that kind of punishment. With regards to people killing themselves, surely wouldn't it have paid to check out from other sources wether this was really happening? Can't say then that they are entirely missed from the gene pool can you?

Yeah I know what you are talking about and it really did happen. I think that people now are a little more savvy and there is more information readily available faster however as you could tell from the alien autopsy footage and Roswell the debate rages on and it is possible.

as we still do not know if there are other living things out in this world, I would much rather stay alive and wait for them, I would make sure my home was locked up tight so no one can enter and harm me and my family.

Yes, I do think that people would flip out. I don't think that the populations could handle news such as that.

People are so jaded by TV that when REAL killings are shown it does not shock us as much as it should.
