I work at wal-mart third shift,
some of those ps3 people waited from 8am the previous day to get it.
They weren't waiting for the cure for cancer,
or a flue shot, or food.
but for a $700 game
GAME
one woman who was there was sick and vomiting.
her boyfreind/husband
didn't take her home
didn't call for anyone,
didn't even get out of line to buy rollaids or something
this obsession with that game is sickness.
and thats at $700,
or even if it was $50
it is ridiculus, it is sick

I think people have gotten carried away and have forgotten that it is just a toy. Even worse there will be a new version of it soon and that toy will be obsolete.
Have you met anyone who really paid $10000 for one or did you just hear it on the TV news? I think the TV newscasters were the ones most thrilled about PS3. They got a cute story they could do without having to make any effort.

Yes but if I would have bought one I'd be happy someone was that stupid.
To the one who asked what the difference between this and scalping is it is simple. To scalp is selling tickets to a LIMITED EVENT. There are only so many tickets and there will always only be so many tickets to that show. The PS3 is in a first wave and limited release. There will be a larger release if people had a little patience. They just need to make more.

Way too much! Just wait a little and think of the games you could buy with a PS3 for 10k. You could even visit another country such as China for 10k USD and probally buy a PS3 in China for cheap.
Good Luck.

It's extremely ridiculous, but do we honestly care? Listen if you can shell out 10 grand for a PS3 you are certainly not pitiable, unless in the aspect that you are probably mentally challenged in some way. If someone wanted to pay me ten thousand dollars for a playstaion three I would gladly take advantage of them.

we all already knew that most of the people in line were going to turn around and sell them
many people want them, high demand, low supply, it stands to reason that prices would soar, after all, it IS our market system
and you have to remember, yes, it IS amazing, the amount of money people will shell out to get their kids to shut up for a month - but those same people generally mightn't give much to charity
people pay a lot to look like heroes to their kids, never realizing that they didn't have to do much more than talk to them every now and then

I am with you on this. Actually, I was so upset to see people running, shoving, and shooting other people just to get a friggen game. WHO CARES!!!! My daughter is getting ready to be deployed to Iraq to fight for a country that acts so childish and materialistic. Those people should spend their money on sending "I love you boxes to our soldiers, letters, and Thank you cards." That is something to run for. Our country. For all you who were running for the game. Why don't you run to do something for your country and not yourself or your overindulgent kids. We need a little perspective here. Please !!!!!!!!!!!

ummmmm yea, it's stupid. I think it should also be illegal. To go and buy a game just to turn around and sell it on ebay is just like going to buy tickets and standing at the corner and scallping them...Really what is the differnce...
