When I wear it, my back doesnt hurt and back is straight. Then when I take it off to go to sleep in the morning it hurts. My question is do you think i should wear it straight for lets say a week???? Maybe its like a broken arm that needs to be in a cast. All I know is when this thing is on it feels good and nothing hurts and it helps my back stay straight too:)

Maybe your mattress needs to be looked at.

Folk wisdom says wearing a brace actually weakens the back. You become somewhat dependent on it. I am all for relief, but I would hesitate to wear an appliance for that long. Have you seen a doctor?

Let me add one thing from personal experience: When my back has acted up, I was in a near panic state because I thought the pain was here to stay. But so far, it subsides after a few days, and there's a long interval before the next flare up. I think trying any heroic measures to make it feel better is jumping the gun. Just wait and see. If you take real care with your posture, and sitting (no slumping or sitting like you did in a movie theater as a kid), and spend a few hours a day laying flat on your back to decompress naturally, I think you'll see improvement without drugs or the brace.

Then, just take care of your back. Bouts of pain may return after certain activities, but I think you'll see overall improvement. The main thing is not to go into a panic if it's been hurting for a few days. If you take care of your back, give it some TLC and quality time, as mentioned above, there's a very good chance it will get better.

If you wear it too much you will weaken the muscles in your back because they will come to depend on the brace. It's not like a broken arm. I would go to the doctor and find out why your back hurts, perhaps you have a herniated disc it's better to get it ruled out, you may just need some physical therapy to strengthen your back muscles. All your nerves run through your spine and it's better to be safe than sorry. Would hate to find out you did long term damage because you had something pressing on a nerve...
