Hmmmm!!! Seems ur having same problem like i had when i was in school. I have tried both the end... one being very strict and stikcing to the rules and the other being very lenient. Both had problem.... the 1st one i earned ire of my friends and the 2nd one ire of my teacher and one slap also for not maintaining the class disipline(this was many years ago).
So my advice to u is, the best way to maintain things is, dont command ur friends. there is a way u can convince ur friends. afetr all they r ur classmates. have a limit for that. if they cross a threshold limit then take some action like ur stars or somethng otherwise try to win things with peace and plz dont beahve too much athoritative..... friends dont like that. ok dear.... i this this must have helped u. rite?

This type of situation tests who ur real friends are. If your teacher is happy with you and you are yourself content and think that you are performing the task given to you with honesty then don't look at other people's reaction. May be your friends voted u as a monitor so that they could enjoy in the shadow of ur position in the class. Hey thats great U are taking the responsibilities seriously but dont be strictly follow to it. As we know that schools have always have some rules and desciplines that we used to follows but as per human nature he is always suppose to do what he is told not to do. so be cautious about the harmful rules and not harmless rules try to balance between them. Let ur friends have some libarties regarding the harmless rules and dont let them broke the harmful rules.
They will obviously get back to you. They will understand the things when they will be at that position.
