I was playing basketball and my ankle rolled and I heard a pop. I did the RICE program and it did help. The swelling seems to be more so after I have been on my feet at work or after I wake in the morning and get going for the day. The brusing is only left on the back of my leg between my ankle and calf muscle. I can walk almost like normal and I can rotate my foot with no/little pain and move it up and down, side to side.

your symptoms are quite normal. did you have xrays to rule out stress fracture or any other injury? if so, then you just need to compress the area while on your feet to help with swelling, ice and elevate once you are off of your feet. also you may want to check out a great informative website, myfootshop.com. it will be very helpful in answering some of your questions regarding the sprain and healing time. it will also give you some suggestions for help in healing the injury. use the source as link to site.

Sprains take a LONG time to really heal. I think it took me 6 months to get completely over a sprained ankleat one time. Try putting ice on it in the evening after you've been on your feet all day. If you have bruising on the back of your leg above the ankle and below the calf muscle, you may have torn the Achille's tendon. That's very painful, I've done it on both legs (fortunately, at different times). But it will heal without much intervention.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.

So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.

Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.

A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.

Heal your ankle fully & fast?

Depending on how old you are it can take weeks to months for the ankle to heal properly. Keep treating it and stay off it as much as possible.
I sprained my ankle badly last year and was in a cast for a week. It took months for the swelling to go away completely.

yeah, its completely normal. don't worry about it. i was running once and stepped off a curb wrong and sprained my ankle really, really bad that i thought i actually broke it because i couldn't move it at all and it hurt extremely bad. but alternating with heat and ice and giving it time to heal and stuff-it got better within a few weeks, but that doesnt mean it will be back to normal again. ususally if you sprain your ankle-then they usually remain weak and it's easier to sprain them again because your ligaments are torn or stretched. so take it easy on your ankle. it just takes time
