I did connect it Before i downloaded the software, but should it make a difference?

restart PC, then connect creative zvm, it should show up in 'my computer'
if not, try system restore
if still no go, disconnect player, then click on 'safely remove hardware' in bottom toolbar, and remove the player.. then re-connect it again and let the wizard start searching etc again....
