It'll be a computer mishap from Russian's aging early warning system that thought NATO or the US launched ICBMs at them. An accidental launch will be responsible for the end of the world.

As you may know, this almost happened on more than one occasion since the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the world didn't know how close them came to nuclear holocaust.

The last one occurred in POST-Cold War Russia when, on January 25, 1995 - A peaceful scientific rocket is launched off the coast of Norway. To the east, in Russia, radar operators mistake the launch for a nuclear attack by the West. A deadly process -- nearly on auto-pilot -- is triggered. Within minutes President Yeltsin has been alerted of the attack. For the first time in history, the Russian nuclear briefcase is activated.

that's such a good question. And, in fact, one that I've been dwelling on myself for a little while - well, 25 years or so. So what I think is going to happen is not anything to do with nature or comets or war or evil dictators or a jurassic park-style comeback for dinosaurs or any of that shite. what's going to happen is that what with the finite resources are going to dwindle big time so we're going to get all these budding 'entrepreneurs' going out into the deserts with bloody big drills to go looking for oil that the big companies might have missed out on. so they're going to be drilling away and one day some big redneck is going to drill a little too deep and penetrate the core of the earth and, because of the build-up of pressure that has been increasing over the millenia, the whole sphere that is the world is just going to pop like a balloon and will start spinning wildly in space while making that ppppppphhhhhhhhhhhhhhh farting noise and we'll all just be gone. just like that. or if that doesn't happen, some deep-sea diver is going to pull the plug out in some abyss, the oceans will drain away and we'll all dry up and the diver will be sued in a very exciting courtcase before we all die. great.

There will be no end of the world in the physical sense.

The end of something is always the beginning of something else.

End of the world = End of the old way of thinking of man and the beginning of a new way of thinking for him.

The end is the end of the time of reckless destruction of the environment on which we depend for our survival.
The end of all the prejudices, of gender, class, religion, etc.. that separate manking.
The end of the time of disunity in the world.

I would really be surprised if the world hasn't ended by the time George W. Bush finishes his presidential term. I'm surprised we've all lasted this long.
