Actually, there isn't anything to debate. He is not marrying in a church. He is marrying in a medieval castle outside of Rome. The rent of this castle is $50K but because he is spending so much money ($9 million) in the lakeside town of Bracciano (40km north of Romelittle), the castle rental is on the house (free).

Just regarding the fact if he can or cannot marry in the Catholic church: Cruise's marriage to Nicole Kidman was definitely annulled by the Catholic church as Nicole remarried in a Catholic church several months ago. An annulment has to take place before another Catholic marriage can be performed. Also, his first marriage to Mimi Rogers was also annulled, because he married Nicole Kidman in a Catholic ceremony (she is a devout Catholic). This leave Cruise to basically be a "never married" in the eyes of the church and since he was a baptized Catholic, and received his sacraments prior to his adulthood when he decided "not to practice", he is still a Catholic in the eyes of the Church.
Is this right? Hey, it's not my life, but I am relaying the facts as they stand. He can renounce, jump on, hate or whatever his Catholic past, but he is still on their roster and free to start practicing again. And yes, money paves an easier way to accomplish all of this.

Cunningprose is totally correct. The Tomkat marriage is happening in a castle, not in a church. And Tom is dropping alot of dough in that town, so the local government is doing everything they can to accommodate his wishes. And why not? This town will be raking it in over one wedding. Did you hear that they imposed a "paparazzi tax"? Any member of the press has to fork over $1500 just to take pictures.
Good for those Italians...that was pretty smart!

Mr and Mrs Cruise were married in a former stable of a 15th-century castle not a Catholic church.
With love in Christ.

No. He's been divorced. And he's not Catholic. In order to marry in a Catholic church, you either have to convert to Catholocism, or sign a paper saying you will raise your children in the Catholic church and send them to Catholic school.
I chose not to do ANY of that, so my husband and I were not allowed to marry in the church, which made his family COLOSSAL mad! har har....

Why not?
This Scientology-thing he's a member of has really nothing to do with religion, it seems to be just a way of life. (it is very far from my way of life tho......I'm not too keen on quite a few of the things Scientology-followers are claiming to be true)
