i started reading this novel and was repulsed - the scene didn't appear loving and passionate but quite the opposite. i was surprised because the author was a woman.

Human sexuality is as varied as the people having it, to ask why someone enjoys a certain style of sex is like asking why someone enjoys a certain flavor of ice cream. They just do. As long as it's mutually enjoyable activities between consenting adults in private, why should it matter to anyone else? As to the author being a woman, there are a lot of women in the BDSM scene, and many of them are in loving, passionate, nurturing relationships, one persons violence is another persons foreplay, that's just the way things are.
