I agree with Chuck and would advise you to clean the printhead. If you do not use your printer regularly, the ink gets gunked up. I have gotten to the point that I run the "clean printhead" regularly just to keep it clean.
Most printers let you know if and when one or more cartridges are empty. Also, some printers will not print in color if one of the cartridges is empty. Check your printer for this utility.

Your color cartridge may be empty. If you have a printer icon on your desktop, click on that and check through all the options offered there. If the printer icon isn't on your desktop, click start, (usually botton left of screen) if you don't see the printer listed, click all programs and look for your printer to be listed there. Good luck. It isn't as difficult as I make it sound.

Make sure that your colour cartridge is not finished. If it has not finished, then proceed as follows:
File>Print>Preferences > Color and then untick the 'Print in grayscale' option. If it is NOT selected, then I am sorry.

Please ensure that the Grayscale option is not being checked in the printer properties. However, please visit the following web site and follow the instructions to clean the cartridge contacts manually.
