When I was in fifth grade the girls were taught about menstral cycles - not sure what they taught the boys. One of my kids was taught about drugs in 5th and now 8th grades. They are teaching her things she never would've known. Like different types of drugs she may never have even thought of if they hadn't taught them at school (sniffing markers, glue, etc). It makes me pretty upset! It's like they're giving them ideas of drugs to try.

I'm a strong believer that those type of things are the parents responsibility........but, I'm a realist. Many parents have no time for their kids. There are enough kids already sexually active at 12 and 13. I have had students tell me such!

They need to be prepared so they don't make such mistakes. I know nurses that say the most common STD in middle school kids is gonorrhea of the throat......disgusting isn't it!

These kids are unprepared to deal with life in 2006 and beyond....someone has to help. Send a letter to the school if you have already prepared your child. They will pull the child from health class.

Just like with human and cosmological origins, nothing should be taught.

Because the people who will teach it won't get anything right.
