Why is it so masculine? I prever the square face smiley pants.

I'm with you.
I liked the happy, dopey, one-size-fits-all smiley square.
The new default avatar is just plain annoying, and they should at least let us choose between a scrawny young male (well, it is), and some similarly unattractive female.

I just thinking about asking this same question. lol I liked the smiley faces much better also. The new ones look like a man. Which is ok of course if you are a man, but for those of us who aren't I guess we'll have to create an avatar of our own now. Darn, I hate doing stuff like that.

i think they just wanted to upgrade it. it's not sexist. yahoo can't distinquish who is male and who is female so they go with male. it really isn't sexist. but it is annoying which is why i had to go and make an avatar. i didn't want people thinking i was a guy..
i liked the square face smiley better too it was cute

Thank you - I thought it was just me - that I had never noticed that the generic avatar was so masculine.
Now I know it WAS me being vague but not in the fashion I had thought -I didn't realise it had changed until seeing your question.
YES - I agree with you - it looks male. Bring back the smiley face.
