It is a huge possiblity that you are getting ready to give birth, when I was pregnant I had that pain for a few weeks before giving birth. To induce naturally would be sexual positions such as doggy-style and even your spouse using his hand. Walking a lot, drinking castor oil will only make you sick so I would not suggest that. The baby comes when he/she is ready and talk to your doctor, they might want to induce labor since you are due. If you are 40 weeks then the baby is ready to come out, the last few weeks of pregnancy the baby is fully grown and taking up everywhere so if your doctor suggests that they need to induce labor allow them to. Water does not always break on it's own in case you might be waiting for the sign. The best thing you should do is call your doctor and make an appointment. Pregnancy is like being on your toes all of the time because all you want to do is know everything about it so you have every right to be asking about this. Call your doctor or midwife because they are the ones that can truly answer your questions. Congratulations and good luuck :)

you poor woman i went to 41 weeks and 6 days my daughter is 3 months old... sex is the best to try and bring on labour the semon helps to soften the cervix and help start contraction there are also other herbal remedies like raspberry leaf tea and walking around the block but i tried everything and babies come when they are ready or induced lol the pains you are having sound like the stretching of the muscles and cervix try and have a not to hot bath get as much rest as possible and you could be in the very early stages of labour good luck Danielle

You need to walk. That is the very best thing to do whether you are in real labor or Braxton Hicks. Even if you are walking only around the house, keep walking!! Good luck and congratulations on your coming Mommyhood!

You may be a mommy soon. I think you ought to let your body do the work and try not to induce it yourself. If the doctor is going to induce it soon for sure though and you don't want that you could try nipple stimulation and sex. Walking helps too. Good luck!

they're not braxton hicks contractions. it feels like a 'shooting' pain going up the vagina, i got the same pain when every pregnancy, generally around the delivery date. i have no idea what it is or why it happens, but it was was very painful at times and stopped me in my tracks! i thought it was because of the baby's head being so far down and sort of 'stretching' that area ready for delivery
