It's one of the sorest - ouch! And your clothes keep rubbing on it while it's healing and that's painful too.

Depends how old you are. If you're over 16 I guess it's up to you.

But try not to alienate your parents. I'm sure they want what's best for you, whatever age you are.

If you really want to do it, get as much information as possible (the piercing place will have leaflets you can show your parents) and try to talk them round.

Good luck.

depends how old you are. Belly button piercing can look attractive, as for the pain, everyone has a different pain thresh-hold. Its afterwards that it will hurt, but go to agood , shope to get it done make sure they are clean and have the proper certificates. Listen to what they tell you about keeping it clean, as it is a wound and you wouldnt want it infected. Then above all, enjoy it, there are so many pretty jewellery about for b buttons. Good luck

It hurt me worse than I've ever hurt before. THAT was just the piercing part. I didn't know it would take almost a year for the thing to heal. It is WAY different then getting your ears pierced. If this thing gets infected, it hurts. I wouldn't recommend going against your parents wishes, but whatever.

I would not consider it - never ever!!
Once, when I had to go to hospital, there was a young girl in the bed next to me, she was having a procedure done and they had to remove her stud (from her belly) - there was an infection as well and she gave a mighty yell! They were not too happy and the infection prevented her from having her procedure done.
It dosn't look attractive and causes too many infections - you have to constantly keep that area clean and use a disinfectant.
The belly button is to be left alone. It's not like your ear lobe(that is just fleshy) and dosn't really bleed.
Stick to your ears being pierced.... :)

You need your parents support on something as important as this, so don't alienate them. Remember, once you've had it done you have to keep it really clean and you'll need someones help to keep it that way. It's OK to say, well I can see it in the mirror, so I can do it myself. But it's not as clear as someone checking it and cleaning it from right up close. (Usually, the Mum, Mum's are brilliant at stuff like this!)
Think very, very closely about having it done and keeping it secret. Septicaemia is an infection that you can die from. And it's a slow, nasty, painful death.

get it done, its your body, how likely are they to see your belly button peircing anyway...it doesnt hurt - a sharp quick pinch and thats it, just take care of it really well for the healing period afterwards....you dont want some minging scar tissue ruining ure tum forever! (try explaining that to ure parents!...guaranteed they'd be more pissed off about that than a peircing that worked out!)
Oh and dont go to some jewellers to get it done go to a well established peircing studio to do it - i know it'll cost a bit more but the professionalism is worth it.
Good luck...go for it...its not a big thing to do!

getting your ears pierced hurts more. but your belly button does hurt more afterwards. I would suggest wearing low cut or baggy trousers for the next couple of weeks after you get it done. That's from personal experience.

just ignore what karla ere 2k6 has just said. its a load of rubbish!

the piercing part doesn't hurt but the days after the piercing are torcher!!! I thought I would die from the pain, but that was my personal experience, once it swells it does get really sore and very uncomfortable, I guess it didn't help that mine did go septic but it healed up and looks great!!! Good luck!!!

Well, you'd be having a giant needle shoved through your flesh, it's not going to feel good. And it's probably best to listen to your parents and not random people on the internet.
