Because of fashion and industry. I've heard somewhere that body hair grew out of fashion (once upon a time women with hairy legs were seen as passionate (no matter what I think of that)), when somebody wanted to sell more products for shaving, so men were not enough as buyers. It looks quite logical to me, similar as colouring hair nowadays. It's so popular only because that part of industry have to have profit from colouring instead of artificial curls (that were popular before).
(This is not something that I realised, I heard it on TV :) )

not all women shave off their body hair .. some prefer to have some e.g. on their arms.
on the whole most women get rid of hairs on areas such as their legs just because its more feminine that way and it looks much sexier when wearing a skirt or when on the beach in a bikini...dontcha think?!
also their are a lot of influencial celebrities out there now

I am like Franka, I have tried both..when I lived in nature, in the mountains, I didn't shave and it felt good to be natural and not have to concern myself with vanity. Now that I live in the suburbs, things have changed and I conform. I think shaving started with the Egyptians, as someone said. Due to hygiene, it helped to keep down body lice, etc. that is why the men shaved their lids too. Why the tradition only stuck for women, I don't know..

It's all about fashion & conformity.
I personally don't shave at all. My husband doesn't care. I always got ingrown hairs and itchy rashes when I shaved, so I just don't bother with it any more.
I've heard that thicker bushes are coming back into style now. Most men don't really care either way. (They're just happy to get any!) LOL

Guess if you want us to have armpit hair down to our waists and leg hairs down to our toes we could stop doing it, its just a feminine thing and much nicer than been hairy.

Its personal choice. I have tried both extremes! It depends on your mood. There is a pressure to conform to the shaven norm I must admit. Being body-hair free makes me feel more feminine. Though being hairy makes me feel kind of powerful! Hopefully women make the choice based on their own motivations, but I say try both! Though not at the same time ;)

What the author found captivating and perfect layout, the clever cutting-edge guy thinks, that's of no stable and shaves of the physique hair. i ask your self he would additionally 'decrease and paste' different physique aspects right here and there in comparable way, to make physique greater captivating !

Hygiene. You might have noticed more men today doing it too. I'd always prefer my partner to shave his underarms and you-know-where.
