I and my freind both have a Dial-up broadband connection from same ISP. i got his IP from him thru chat and tried to ping him. but he was not reachable. dont know why? does anybody know the reason for it. and also tell me how to find the correct IP for his system.

i hav also checked my firewall settings in both the PCs. tried even after turning them off.

Probably there is a firewall between the two machines, probably on the remote machine, disallowing remote access or shielding (hiding) the entity of the machine.

ask him the IP Address provided by ISP. You can order him to check through router ip address (eg. 192.168.1.1) to find the ISP address. That address is for router configuration
